Neoen acknowledges the Wiradjuri people, Traditional Owners of the land on which Great Western Battery will store energy. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

For NSW

The Great Western Battery will have the capacity to reduce electricity prices for NSW energy consumers through:

  • enabling more power to come from wind and solar: the cheapest forms of energy
  • increasing competition and pushing electricity prices down
  • increasing the reliability of the grid, helping to prevent blackouts

Neoen’s SA Big Battery saved energy consumers over $150m in its first two years of operation.

FOR REGIONAL ECONOMY

This major infrastructure project will deliver a significant volume of construction jobs and a number of full-time ongoing positions.

It will also provide opportunities for local suppliers, businesses, schools and community groups.

FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY

A Community Benefit-Sharing Scheme will be established for the lifetime of the project.

We’re keen to hear from the community about what form this could take. One idea would be to develop educational resources for local schools to support learning about renewables and our future energy system.

This video is an example of a school project that was funded by Bulgana Green Power Hub’s Community Benefit Fund.
